Fees & Payment Policy

This Fees & Payments Policy explains the fees, taxes, and payment methods for using AfterTheMarket's services. All fees listed are exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) or similar taxes that may apply. All service fees are non-refundable.

1. Types of Fees

Listing Fees

  • A listing fee of R2.50 will be charged for each item listed for sale after 100 products
  • Listings expire after 3 months
  • Multiple quantities of the same item incur only one initial listing fee
  • Listing fees are deducted at the time of publishing or renewal

Transaction Fees

  • A buyers protection transaction fee of 5% + R14.50 applies to the total order amount (including delivery fees)
  • For sellers using different currencies, additional currency conversion fees may apply

Promotional Fees

AfterTheMarket offers optional promotional services:

  • Featured Listings: R50 per week
  • Homepage Promotion: R200 per week
  • Category Boost: R100 per week

Payment Processing Fees

  • Standard processing fee: 2.9% + R1 per transaction, excluding VAT
  • International card processing: Additional 3.1% + R1, excluding VAT
  • Payment processing fees are calculated on the total amount, including VAT and delivery at checkout
  • EFT transactions are charged at 2% with no flat fee
  • R3 per transfer (failed or successful)

2. Off-Platform Transactions

All transactions must be conducted through AfterTheMarket's platform. Off-platform transactions are strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension.

3. Payment Methods

AfterTheMarket accepts the following payment methods:

  • Major credit and debit cards
  • Instant EFT
  • Digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay)
  • Payment by installment through approved partners

4. Paying Your Fees

  • Fees are automatically deducted from your seller account
  • Outstanding balances must be paid within 15 days
  • Failure to pay fees may result in account suspension
  • Sellers can enable auto-billing for convenience

5. Taxes

Value Added Tax (VAT)

  • AfterTheMarket will mark items sold as VAT inclusive if you have registered a shop with a VAT number
  • Registered VAT vendors must provide their VAT registration number on their shops when creating a new shop

Income Tax Reporting

  • Sellers are responsible for declaring income and paying applicable taxes
  • AfterTheMarket will provide annual transaction summaries for tax purposes on request by email to support@afterthemarket.co.za
  • Where required by law, AfterTheMarket will report transaction data to SARS

6. Currency

  • All fees are listed in South African Rand (ZAR)
  • International transactions will be converted at current market rates
  • A 2.5% currency conversion fee applies to non-ZAR transactions
