Off-Platform Transactions Policy

AfterTheMarket is committed to providing a secure trading environment for our community. We've developed robust payment systems, buyer protection measures, and dispute resolution mechanisms to ensure safe transactions for all users. These security features are only available for transactions completed through our platform.

Platform Safety and Legal Compliance

In accordance with South African consumer protection laws, including the Electronic Communications and Transactions (ECT) Act and the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), all transactions initiated on AfterTheMarket must be completed through our platform. This ensures:

• Compliance with South African financial regulations and consumer protection laws
• Protection against fraud and scams
• Clear record-keeping for tax and legal purposes
• Access to our dispute resolution system
• Coverage under our Buyer Protection Program

Prohibited Off-Platform Activities

To maintain platform integrity and user safety, the following activities are prohibited:

• Directing buyers to complete purchases outside AfterTheMarket
• Sharing external payment details or alternative purchase methods
• Using QR codes, links, or any other means to redirect users to external platforms
• Communicating through non-platform channels to arrange sales
• Modifying prices after sale to avoid platform fees
• Misrepresenting item location or shipping information
• Using another user's account without explicit authorization

Transaction Integrity

All listings must accurately represent the final sale price. In compliance with South African law, sellers must:

• Display prices in South African Rand (ZAR)
• Include VAT in the displayed price when applicable
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions
• Honor the listed price without post-sale modifications
• Process all payments through AfterTheMarket's approved payment systems

Enforcement

Violations of this policy may result in:

• Immediate suspension or termination of account access
• Removal of listings
• Forfeiture of platform protections and services
• Reporting to relevant South African authorities where applicable

For your security, report any requests to complete transactions off-platform to our Trust and Safety team immediately.

This policy helps ensure compliance with South African consumer protection laws while maintaining a secure trading environment for our community. AfterTheMarket reserves the right to update this policy as needed to reflect changes in applicable laws or platform requirements.
